Fast, hollow and powerful wave breaking over a shallow slab of flat rock 400 metres out to sea. Picks up most swells going but gets busy whenever it's on

Longsands is at the heart of the Geordie surf scene. This popular beachbreak is fairly consistent, working through the tide with peaks up and down the beach. Good waves for all levels including a few home grown pros.

Long, powerful righthand point-break over a reef at the southern end of Saltburn beach. Quality wave when it's on - which isn't too often. Always crowded when good, but fairly chilled.
