1. East Runton

Hub of the East Anglia surf scene but in global terms fairly average spot. Chalk reef offshore blocks some swell but also keeps the banks a little better lined up. Can get good on a solid N swell with a light S/SW wind and has even been known to chuck the odd barrel

2. Cromer

Epicentre of the East Anglia surf scene picking up proper N swells. Groynes and pier help keep the sand and pebble bottom in place with the latter providing the best waves.

3. Walcott

Convenient access point along a long stretch of similar NE facing coastline. Significantly better than breaks further down the coast. Groynes help keep the banks in place but are also worth avoiding! Works through the tide with a surfable shorey at high

4. Gorleston

Long stretch of beach to the north and south of the River Yare. Shifting banks and weak dissipated swells make for a fairly uninspiring set up.

5. Lowestoft

Works best on a N swell but will have waves on E/SE wind swells. Generally fairly weak on account of offshore banks but can be worth a look, particularly towards Claremont Pier

6. Sea Palling

Series of beach-breaks formed inside sea defences. Usually better than the miles of beach either side.
