    Am thinking of trying a stint in NZ at some point in the near future and was wondering where the best towns/cities are in terms of being close to good surf.
    I.e. somewhere big enough to have a few jobs but with a good range of consistent surf on the doorstep

    Auckland, big city and short trips in any direction to good surf. Rugged west coast and smooth east coast. Week end trips south sound like a good idea too.
