I read a while back that there was quite a lot of trouble at Tamarin Bay from the local 'White Short' crew. Like, if you weren't one of them then you wouldn't get a look in.
Is it still bad down there?

I just got back from there and can say that localism definitely exists. I saw one guy get punched in the face for dropping in and plenty of intimidation by mainly french xpats from what I could gather. I believe it is frowned upon by the true locals and natives of Mauritius however nothing has been done about it YET! Definitely brush up on yr boxing skills just in case. I bumped into another ozy guy at black stone - very close to tamarin - and he was told to get out of the water before he had even caught a wave. I would like to see them in Australia or would like to see the Bra Boys head over there. They will soon find out what localism is about if they tried giving those boys marching orders. I wasn't born in Mauritius but my Father and Grandparents were so I feel I should be able to there without being hassled. Although it was the most perfect barrel I haver seen I didn't feel comfortable because of these guys. All in all I would like to see these guys sorted out!
